ONLINE Guided Community Meditation with Dr Laura Feuerborn

Calm Meditation Image May 3.jpg

Welcome to a guided meditation on the theme of getting to Calm with Dr Laura Feuerborn.

*Offered every 1st and last Saturday of the month.

Feeling anxious? Restless? Unsettled?

Finding it difficult to focus or remember things?

Are you noticing patterns in your life or behaviors that are not helpful? (e.g., drinking and eating to excess, chewing your nails, lashing out at others or self, worrying)

Needing to find more helpful ways of regulating or down-shifting?

SEEKING CALM?

You aren’t alone.

This community of practice can help.

Meditation can significantly reduce clinical levels of: anxiety, toxic stress, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder/PTSD), Depression, and Addictive/compulsive behaviors.

At the same time, meditation can significantly increase emotional regulation, contentment, self-wisdom, kindness and compassion.

Meditation can grow brain volume in key areas linked to: healthy aging, memory and learning (e.g., hippocampus,), and it can thicken cortical layers of the brain responsible for executive functioning (think of that infinitely wise voice that tells you NOT to send that reactive email, but take a walk instead).

And, at the same time, meditation can decrease activity in the brain in areas associated with impulsivity, preoccupation, rumination, worry, mind-wandering (e.g., amygdala & the Default Mode Network/DMN—ever zoned-out and missing your freeway exit?

These benefits can be more pronounced when practiced in a community.

So, WHY NOT join us for this exciting new meditation offering at Inner Alchemy?

What can I expect? What does it look like?

Dr. Laura Feuerborn facilitates these community gatherings by leading a:

1. teaching and reading,

2. 30 minute practice, and

3. group discussion about the ins and outs of mindful/bodyful practices. This includes debunking myths, taking a deep dive into the nuances and challenges of our practice, and group shares (noticings, wonderings, and tips or strategies).

Each session is centered on a topic or a theme, and incorporates different philosophies, ideologies, and modalities, as appropriate to the topic. Mindful movement, progressive relaxation, breathing techniques, and mindful eating are to name a few of our fun and meaningful practices. No experience is required! Go ahead, no need to wait; unwrap your presents from the present!
